Croatian fans are singing

An extraordinary end

Croatia thought they were thorugh when Klasnic scored in the with one minute left of the extra time. But Turkey came back an equalised seconds before the end. Turkey goalkeeper Rüstü became the great hero when he saved Petrics penalty. Turkey scored every penalty and went on to a semifinal. Croatia on the other hand lost a quarter final they tought they had won. It was an incredible turnover.

In the city I watched tousands of dissapointed croatians. Some were crying. Others was just sitting or standing with empty eyes. But they were strong despite the terrible defeat and got together and started to sing. The turkish fans arrived to the same place and started to sing aswell. It was a beautiful scene. Fans from both sides standing side by side after this tournaments most uncredible match this far.

For some croatians the dissapoinment was to much to handle. The attacked the turkish fans but police seperated the two groups before it became really ugly. The croatians was so many that one could think that they were the houst contry. I could just think about what a great party it would have been if they made it to the final instead.

I am sitting in my hotel room and hear the sound of celebrating turkish fans, but also the sound of ambulances and police cars.

The fan-zone before the game

Croatian fans is all over Wien

I am sitting in the center of Wien and there is red and wihte shirts all over the place. The Croatian fans will win the match in the stadium that's for shore.

Turkey will have to play tonights quarter final without their goal-keeper and some other players too. Croatia are big favourites and I think that they make it to the semifinal.

In Croatias first big tournament they were knocked out in the quarter final. Two years later they took the bronze medal in World Cup 98. Bilic, Ladic, Asanovic, Boban, Proschenecki, Vlaovic, Jarni, Boksic and specially Davor Suker was one of europas best teams when they played. Croatia hade some tuff years after that but now thay have bulit a new strong generation of players. I belive that they have a big chance to reach the final this year. Tonight they will most likely win, and they have alredy beaten Germany this summer.

Wien is warm and beautfiul with 25 degrees and sunshine.
